I attended a seminar by Winston Ferris, a professor at Andrews University, some years ago, in which he shared that the relationships that we have with one another teach us something about who and what God is like, and if any one of those relationships (there are 7) is somehow damaged or distorted then we lose a valuable insight about our Heavenly Father. The loss of such insight in any one of these relationships can make it nearly impossible for us to have a right image of God and therefore affect the level of intimacy we experience with God. For me this knowledge was significant because every single emotional bond between mother, father, siblings, friends, and so on, was damaged. I am a miracle! And so are you!
If you follow my blog you will discover that the enemy has worked hard and long to destroy my relationships with people and ultimately with Jesus but he has failed! Today I know that I can trust Jesus to see me through anything. That doesn’t mean I don’t struggle. I do! However, I am learning to thank God for the conflict. Ellen G. White, one of my favorite authors wrote the following in her book “Mind Character and Personality”; “But while there are constant battles to fight, there are also precious victories to gain; and the triumph over self and sin is of more value than the mind can estimate.”
I am so thankful that we have such a powerful and loving Father who has provided everything we need to be overcomers. Revelation 21:7 is a promise we can claim not in the future but right now, Today! “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God and he shall be my son (or daughter).” Isn’t it wonderful to be a part of the family of God!
